Background

I studied English Literature at Essex University in the early 1980s and then spent a number of years in residential social work, prior to moving to France in 1991. In 2001, I qualified as a French to English translator by passing the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Translation, with semi-specializations in business and science.

Although I have recently returned to live in the UK, the 20 years I spent building up my language skills through real-life experience continue to serve me well.

I’ve been freelance since 2003, providing French to English translation, proofreading and editing services to translation agencies, a wide range of private companies, and academic institutions.

Skillset

Every translator needs to have excellent, in-depth knowledge of the foreign language from which they work  – but this does not stand alone. 
I also have a full set of supplementary skills:
